Social Initiatives (2024–25) Promoting Safety, Well-Being & Life Skills Awareness Workshop “Stranger Danger” & “Good Touch, Bad Touch” To ensure student safety and emotional well-being, Queen’s Carmel School conducted awareness workshops on ‘Stranger Danger’ and ‘Good Touch, Bad Touch’. Specially designed for younger learners, these interactive sessions sensitized students to personal safety, trusted relationships, and appropriate responses in unfamiliar situations. Through age-appropriate role plays, real-life situation simulations, guided discussions, and visual demonstrations, students were encouraged to identify safe and unsafe behaviours and practice seeking help with confidence. The workshops empowered children with essential life skills, fostering self-awareness, emotional resilience, and the ability to respond responsibly in real-life situations. Mock Drills & Life Skill Sessions Queen’s Carmel School regularly conducts mock drills and life skill sessions to ensure preparedness, safety awareness, and swift response during emergencies. These include fire safety drills and earthquake disaster drills, supported by the clear display of evacuation plans on all floors of the school building and emergency helpline numbers in every classroom. To further strengthen safety awareness, special sessions on women’s safety were conducted by local police personnel, equipping students with essential knowledge on personal safety, legal awareness, and emergency response. These proactive measures reinforce a culture of safety, vigilance, and responsibility across the school community. Life Skill Development Programmes (LSDP) To nurture innate talents and foster joyful learning, activity-based experiences form an integral part of holistic development at Queen’s Carmel School. Spearheading this initiative, a dedicated schedule on the first Saturday of every month. These Saturdays are observed as ‘No Bag Days’, reducing academic load while offering rich opportunities for skill development through hands-on learning. Students actively participate in the Life Skill Development Programme (LSDP), which focuses on building essential soft skills including social, behavioral, creative, and leadership competencies. Structured sessions on waste management, time management, leadership, teamwork, student council elections, design thinking and environmental consciousness further equip students with practical life skills, preparing them to confidently navigate the world around them. Community Outreach Raksha Bandhan with Social Helpers In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude, students celebrated Raksha Bandhan with social helpers by visiting the local police station and fire station. Rakhis were tied to police personnel and firefighters to acknowledge and honour their dedicated service in safeguarding society, thereby fostering respect for public service and civic duty. Joy of Giving – Annual Outreach Initiative The school observed Joy of Giving as an annual initiative to nurture empathy and compassion among students. Learners actively contributed clothes, books, stationery, food items, and essential utilities for the underprivileged, reinforcing values of sharing, kindness, and social inclusion.
